What to See
: Mt. Tamalpais State Park has one of the best views in the bay area.  Those who reach the top get a breathtaking panoramic view.  I would estimate a 1 1/2 hour stay if you start at the the paid parking lot.  There are two trails Verna Dunshee Trail  & Plankwalk Trail.  The Plankwalk Trail leads you directly to the top for all those “I’m on a rock and at the top!” photo ops.  The Verna Dunshee Trail (wheelchair & stroller friendly) walks around the surrounding area.  Both have great views and are a mere 1.3 miles combined.  After you finish those trails checkout the Gravity Car Barn and learn the history about The Crookedest Railroad.

Observations: When I got to the top, one side was covered in clouds and the other side was sunny.   You can wait for the clouds to pass to see the “hidden” side but I would definitely recommend coming here on a very sunny day.  If you are prone to motion sickness I’d recommend taking some medication, its a windy drive and I had a slight headache.  To get a free parking space on the weekends you will need to get there early before 9am.
