Saguaro National Park

Saguaros (pronounced sa-wah-ros) are the quintessential plant of the Arizona desert.  These tall, green, and spiky cacti grow slowly from seeds only in the Sonoran Desert region. There are two entrances to Saguaro National Park (east vs west) but you can’t go wrong picking one over the other.

Seeking Serenity at Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park

Stupas are Buddhist monuments used for prayer and meditation. This particular stupa has a Tibetan influence. Each part of the stupa represents an element (water, earth) and a part of Buddha’s physical body.

Hungry Donkeys and Live Gunfights in Oatman, AZ

Oatman is one of my favorite stops on Route 66 mainly because of the wild donkeys (also called burros) that you can pet and feed.  The shops in the area sell donkey food for just a buck.  Although they are wild, the donkeys are quite friendly provided you have something to give them.
